Leaving your child to return to work can be agonizing. Is some child care better than others? Yes! Research shows that the quality of child care is directly related to:
- Consistency of care by one provider;
- The provider’s level of education; and
- The provider’s level of compensation.
Our CARES program addresses each of these issues. We award stipends of up to $3,500 per year to local child care providers who get more education in their field. Every year since 2001, CARES has awarded about $200,000 to about 150 child care providers.
Not only do CARES stipends help child care providers continue their education; they also help lower job turnover by giving providers extra income. The result is better care, and more consistent care,
for children in our community.
